Scheduling Software

While I've noticed that in recent years that Excel or Calc templates have become popular for budgeting, I'm curious if there's any free alternatives for scheduling besides Celtx. I've shot three features. and I've used it before but I'm less than impressed with it's scheduling features. I wish I could afford Movie Magic Scheduling, but I'd rather put the money on the screen.
So what are you folks doing for scheduling? I should add, I live in the boonies of Montana where internet is sketchy, so I need to be able to work offline.

I share you opinion of Celtx. I got lucky and found an old version of EP Schedule.
