Save Point - a place to learn animation and filmmaking

It's been a good while since I posted a flier for this, and a lot has changed over at Save Point.

Save Point is an organization that allows creators interested in animation and filmmaking to learn on the job by joining an open collaboration project.

We use Unreal Engine 5 to create a single interactive animated film project, with branching paths that allow multiple creatives to explore a variety of types of storytelling.

Save Point does not charge any money, and supplies resources, education, mentorship, and goals in exchange for simply working with us on the project.

We have literally tens of thousands of assets now, and if you're a person who's interested in learning to be a legitimate digital filmmaker, we can make that process exponentially easier and less expensive for you.

If you're interested in joining, you can simply message me, and we can talk, and figure out if you are a good fit for the project.

Prerequisites for UE5 filmmakers include a 20 series Nvidia card or better, and a reasonable amount of spare time to work with us. Foley artists need their own DAW and VST systems, voice actors need a home recording setup, and writers simply need some skill and imagination.

As far as what the fiction is like, because of it's branching nature, we are more free to explore genres than conventional projects, but overall if you can imagine a mixture of Star Trek, The Twilight Zone, and Ghost in the Shell, you're kind of in the ballpark. Some branching plotlines will explore much more conventional fare, such as murder mysteries, financial dramas like wall street, crime stories like Casino, Adventure stories like Indiana Jones, etc. It's a broad fiction aimed at letting the user choose what type of story they want to see.

About me - I'm a professional director, and I worked for over a decade producing internal films for large corporations. I quit working for companies and started this project a few years later, because I got into film to be creative, and corporate work wasn't providing that opportunity. I taught myself animation to allow collaboration with other creatives around the world without the prohibitive expense of travel and location filming associated with live action film.

Sadly, I must announce that Save Point will no longer accept musicians. I'm a musician myself, and I really do value the work that composers do, but due to the fact that more than 90% of people trying to join the project are musicians, we are highly oversaturated with music assets. At recent count, we have about 500 AAA grade score pieces, and due to a lack of animators, about enough film to host 5 songs. In addition to that, the market in general is so oversupplied that we can buy recordings by actual live orchestras for less than a quarter. For musicians reading this, I don't like it any better than you do, but I think supply and demand issues have essentially wrecked the music industry for smaller score composers.

Here are some WIP samples showing the look of the animation we work on. These are early test projects, and are not intended to be representative of the final project quality. However, I should add that we are quickly closing in on our quality target, and examples should be forthcoming within a month or two. The video of the car driving through town is fairly close to launch quality.
