Rode Videomic Pro Review

Hey guys, i just got my new mic. Extremely happy. I posted an unboxing and a review. Just thought i'd post it here in case anyone was thinking about buying it. Enjoy.

Hadn't realised the Pro was so tiny! By the way, the original has a PAD switch too, it's just inside the battery compartment.

Hmm... to be honest I feel like there's more background noise getting picked up with the Rode mics than the onboard. Could just be that I have the audio on too high on my computer and the balance isn't there...

@chilipie: I did not know about changing the levels on the older one. Shouldve done some more research. Darn it...

That's so it has a smaller profile - out of the range of the lens - and lighter weight (balance) when working with DSLRs.

Hmm... to be honest I feel like there's more background noise getting picked up with the Rode mics than the onboard. Could just be that I have the audio on too high on my computer and the balance isn't there...

Keep in mind that this is not a professional test. It was done in a "noisy" room (uncontrolled sonic environment); the three mics were not recorded simultaneously with the same sound source. If you brought the volume of the voice in the clip of the onboard mic to the same level as the Rode Mic clips I think you would hear about the same amount of background noise.

Has anyone done any tests comparing this mic to the Rode NTG-2. I am trying to decide between the two?
