Rode Video Mic with Zoom H1 not working.

I bought a Zoom H1 to record using my Rode VideoMic. The Zoom works fine, and when I plug in my headphones, I can hear sound. However, as soon as I plug my microphone into the "line in" jack, there is no sound. My mic is on; I switched the switch from "O" to "|". Can someone please help? My goal is to record audio from my mic into the Zoom H1. Thanks in advance :(
