Hey, everyone, we just completed a "no budget" feature movie I wrote, produced, directed, and starred in titled Rockin' Reverend.
This is my first screenplay, first thing I wrote, and it won 2nd Runner-up at the 2012 Beverly Hills Film Festival screenplay competition. I decided to shoot it and paid for the whole thing myself. It was a fantastic experience! The dream is to just be able to do this full time. I'm now submitting to film festivals. Thanks!
Synopsis
Robert Brown is a Shakespearean actor who is dragged to church by his new girlfriend. He is impressed with the amount of money given to the church. Robert realizes that being a preacher is a lot like acting – you show up for a Sunday matinee, you put on a costume, you do a monologue, and people give you money. So Robert creates his own church and transforms into the Rockin' Reverend. His sermons are controversial, being an agnostic. He must choose between being a rock star reverend or being a good father, loyal friend, faithful boyfriend.
