The first time I scheduled the date with the actors, I had nothing planned. My location scouter said it would be pure easiness to find a shoot day by the 20th but it turned out, we were having no luck when the 20th was drawing closer so, we put an ad on Craigslist and got 3 replies and from pictures, all the locations looked fantastic so I sent an email out, apologizing to the cast and crew and moved it to the 25th. It's now the 20th, and I've looked at all of the locations (They were all an hour away) and none of them looked good, the owners want more money than I can afford for the amount of extras that will be on set (Parking issues, liability, etc) and I don't think the 25th is possible.
This has never happened to me before when filming. Generally, last minute planning at the spur of the moment has always worked for me but now it's utterly failed. Should I just send an apology letter to everyone and dismiss them all out of pure embarrassment and look for new cast/crew members? Because I'm sure..... They're going to be pissed.
Wouldn't you be? How would you handle this if you were the crew and I'm the director. Would you get pissed? What should I do in this situation?
