Ray Stevenson (1964-2023) known for his starring role in Kill the Irishman (2011) passed away in 2023.
Ray's performance in season 1 of Ahsoka (2023) was extraordinary, his character Baylan became an instant fan favorite as one of the most fascinating Jedis ever put to screen. After a long, hardworking career, he was finally nearing the top of the ladder of success when his heart gave out, three months before the show premiered. Tragically he never got to see the outpouring of love from the fans.
I don't think it's possible for anyone to match the calming, powerful energy that Ray Stevenson brought to Baylan, but I think it's wonderful they're recasting the character.
Keeping the story alive keeps Ray's performance alive, and hollywood reporter reports that Rory Mccann (The Hound from Game of Thrones) will be Baylan in season 2.
