Quick question regarding audio...

I'm making a new short film and I need some good audio. Does anybody have any suggestions regarding any microphones, boom mics, etc, that are worth the price, good quality and reliable for a newb like me?

I wasn't trying to sound like I wanted mega million Hollywood sound for the price of a Big Mac.

and I'm pretty sure it can hook up as an attachment to the nikon d50000. no hope for he sony handycam (which sucks because that's my camera lol)

Well, at least you can use it on both cameras. Once you get used to the set-up and syncing, it will become old hat.

Separate audio is definitely the way to go dude, you won't regret it. You'll find it much easier to get Foley, you'll be able to monitor your input and you'll learn a lot more about sound design than if you just plugged the VideoMic into your camera.
