Quality Wired Lav Recommendations?

Based on a really old head-to-head review of wired lav reviews, to me, four different mics (in four different price ranges) seemed to stand out. In order from least expensive to most expensive, they were:

But since this review was written a long time ago, are there any newer wired lavs on the scene that sound better, have less noise, resist moisture, pickup equally well when used in hair or under clothes, and are small?

For now, I will just be running these into a Tascam DR-100mkII. I will use this for narrative, so the less obtrusive and most sweat-resistant the better.

What is an "unterminated pigtail" and how possible/easy is it to get an XLR onto such a thing?

Are there any smaller than the Countryman B6 that sound as good or better?

Are there other factors to consider when investing in wired lavs?

What questions didn't this article answer?

How good are you with a soldering iron? An unterminated pigtail means you will have to install your own connector.

The Sanken COS-11 about the same size.

Do you really need something smaller than this?

As with most things your technique will determine how well it/they will work.
