Psychological horror film "8" is needing your help!

Hi! This is Miro Laiho from Finland. Currently my 30-min thesis film, "8" is in pre-production and in the process of crowd funding. The film is based on the LSD psychologist Timothy Leary's theory of eight levels of consciousness. The film is about people, who have to relive their worst memories and re-experience their most horrible traumas all over again.

When the film is done, it will be distributed for free on the internet!

The pre-production has been running for a year now. We've been having test shoots, location scouting and rehearsals. Now we need money for the actual shoot and that's why we are asking for your help to fund the film!

You need to make that a feature, something you can sell.

You've got 8 different "levels of consciousness" to explore. This should not be impossible to expand to 90 minutes.

This is the thesis work of four final year film students in Tampere School of Art and Media: myself, director of photography, film editor and visual effects designer. This is our jump from film school to the professional world and we don't have a chance to make this a feature. That's why the pre-production has also been running for so long. This is our chance to show everyone what we've got and we want to do it the best we can and take the time, while we still can.

Actually we have thought of the possibility to try to make this a feature version after the short film is done (then we have something to show to production companies - a standalone project but also a demo for possible future relations concerning feature films.)

I'm sorry for the inconvenience. We sent two e-mails to the firm that provides the server to our website and it took like 30 hours to react. But now we're back :)

Awesome concept, just beware not to fall in cliche, and remember, people are assholes, and will not hesitate to compare your film to Inception.

Yeah that is true. By throwing some names of existing films we try to pitch the film and maybe give an idea of the style of the film. But you are right, it can be misleading and it's impossible to compare a low budget short film to a Hollywood blockbuster.
