Prop question: paints, faux finishes...

I might be able to use this car as the prop car for a short.

It's a fun car and will be perfect for the scene. Thing is, I'd like to paint it up to look even rattier and hodgepodge; a patchwork paint job if you will.

Are there any removable, washable paints that would do the trick? I don't want to ask the guy unless I could decorate it and wash it all off after the shoot.

Otherwise I will probably print out some fake rust either on paper or transparencies and use a washable glue to paste it on.

Anyone here do any of this sort of faux finishing?

I have seen the prop people go to town on a car using Streaks 'N Tips

Small tip: Always do a test in an inconspicuous location on the car to make sure it doesn't do any damage after it's been washed off. Whether it be paint or glue or whatever.

I'm assuming he's in the middle of restoration. I bet if he allowed you to muddy up the thing, combined with the varying colored panels, it would translate as a heap?

I think he is in the middle of some form of restoration and maybe has been for the last 5 years?
