Premiere Pro for a Newbie

I've been hanging around here for years now. But I'm still very much a newbie: I have next to no hands-on experience or know-how. But I recently shot my first "films" and used an NLE really for the first time. I shot my nieces' weddings and did some editing with the results.

People have mentioned the steep learning curve Premiere has. And I'm not the sharpest tool in the toolbox. I needed to get going and do the basic things I wanted to get done before the thirty day free trial expired. And I needed to get there without my head exploding.

I found a few tutorials on YouTube that were invaluable to me for achieving those goals. And I wanted to pass them along to other newbs who may be in similar shoes as I am/was.

Nothing too fancy or sophisticated. But it's enough to get a person on track for some basic use of Premiere.

First, the excellent...

Which is just great.

But I did run into a serious headache anyway because it doesn't address something rather important: inserting clips without covering up clips you don't want covered. But thankfully that gap was soon filled by the following tutorials and the headache went away. =)

And especially this one...

And I think this one also teaches another way to do inserts which was also invaluable to me...
