Pre-production / research services

Hello all.

I am in the very early phase of negotiations (“exploratory”) with a documentary producer. As he is based overseas, and going to be filming in my part of the world, there is a good chance that I can provide
on-the-ground research services eg. source appropriate interviewees.

However, I need some idea of:

i) The basics – how to charge, and how much to charge? Or suggest where I might directly find such information, or some form of meaningful comparison?

ii) I would also value any suggestions or recommendations for sites which deal specifically with the subject of documentary and film pre-production research, if such exist?

Is there anyone here who can kindly fill me in on these?

Much appreciated.

1) so many variables, experience, location, union labor, their budget, your budget. It will be hard to find how much this service is worth and may vary greatly on any given production on any given day.

2) I haven't seen any sites dedicated to documentary filmmaking, we do have a couple of documentarians here who will most likely chime in though :)
