POV eyelids effect..in AE

Hey guys,
I was wondering how one would go about making the POV groggy eyelids closing n opening effect in AE?
Kinda like the opening scene of diving bell and the butterfly...

You can create a SOLID layer that is BLACK. Then create two masks that meet in the middle. Make the FEATHERING higher, like 150 pixels. Then key frame the two masks to meet in the middle, most likely with an EASY EASE key frames for IN and OUT points.

I think that's the way to do it. Bonus points if you make them slightly curved and/or add a flesh colored layer kind of blurry/seethrough on the tips, like the very end of your eyelids. Try closing your eyes and looking at light to get the color.
