archived-videos Post Apocalyptic Short: The Last Man

This seemed to turn in to a hip hop video. Is it a short or a music video? I shut it down when the music started.

That's a shame, and probably the films biggest downfall as the ending does give you an answer to your question. The group was trying to play with the audiences expectations, In a way we didn't want to get stuck with the cliche's that are involved with the genre.

I totally get that, but all I can say is you had me until the rap music started. I try and avoid cliche too, but you guys did a brake screeching U-turn away from perceived cliche and it was just too jarring for me to continue.

That's my dos centavos, others might be on board for the shift.

The music is fine.
It's the "The Last Man's" ridiculous behavior that's killing it.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. I get it. He's nuttin' out being alone.

The into dialog is pretty good, though.

I would have liked to see more story, less suggestion of a vignette.
The camera work is largely fine. The repetitive "lonely shots" get a bit repetitive, again and again over and over - thus the desire for more story.

Now, I do like the kernel concept of "The Last Man" fighting to keep his mind in this whacked out environment.
Too often we get "badass survivor", the tough chick, mutated thug ensemble, blah blah blah.
A dude just barely holding his sh!t together could make for an interesting ongoing scenario/premise.

GL!

I thought the music video part was pretty funny and unexpected I like it. I actually think you could shorten the begining and just make a music video out of it. Pretty good I think. I think the song actually was pretty good too and added to the humor. Did he die at the end because of zombie attack or is he turning into a zombie or something? The dancing was good too.

Heck after watching a second time wow this thing is really great. It is artistic it starts out as poetry and a serious mood then the music video thing starts and it is really funny. I think this could be a popular short. Just my thoughts. The music video part is like a shock because it is so different then the begining two minutes.

I liked it...different from others...
But I liked it...and whats wrong with rap?

Nothing wrong with rap. I just thought the tonal shift was too much, shattered the whole experience, reset everything I'd invested to zero and just didn't feel like carrying on. Some people liked it though. I just have my dos centavos.
