Please Help Me, How could i do this effect?

Hey, i havent posted for while :-S but need some help with a project that has come up.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mDNgBYj-YQc

At 8:50 there is that effect where it goes fast motion through the school yard moving from person to person.
how could i pull off this effect with no steadicam or dolly or anything? i tried it handheld but it just looks... well shit. any ideas on how i could do this effect? when i did it handheld i just split the clip into bits and sped up the bits that i wanted fast but its all jittery and goes straight from fast to no movement how could i in effect slow the camera down or something. im really not too sure how many other ways you could do this effect without a steadicam but again: any ideas?:hmm: thnks you :)

EDIT: i dont think that youtube thing is working so here is the link just incase: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mDNgBYj-YQc

Practice like a dancer until you get the non-steadicam shot to be as smooth as the steadicam they used for it. Hold the tripod loosely just under the head in the ring formed with your thumb and forefinger, legs collapsed. It looks like they shot it in slow mo (high frame rate) to get silky smooth slow motion, then sped it up for the running through the place parts... There are several cuts in that section edited together using whip pan cuts.

I'd agree with what Knightly said. Shoot it in slow-mo then speed it up in post. If you can find some decent markers in the footage you could even try to stabilize it. Add a little motion blur and you should be able to get pretty close.

Well trust me! They used either a truck, or steadicam! But since you don't want to, try using a monopod, place it in your crotch while sitting in an office chair and have someone push you around!
