Welcome to indietalk!
As you have found out, a lot of the people who post here
are busy people who don't always have time to answer
question as quickly as YOU would like. I'm not convinced
that sarcasm is the best way to get more responses, but
I may be wrong.
I must admit when I read your question yesterday I didn't
really know how to help. You say you want to pick up a
video camera and start making short films - so my advice
would be: Go for it! Pick up any camera you can get your
hands on and make a few short films.
Should I go super 8, some
sort of film or go straight to digital?
I don't think there is an answer to this question. In my
opinion there is no "should". If you want to try shooting on
super 8 I also think that's an excellent idea and my advice
is exactly the same: Go for it! Pick up any camera you can
get your hands on and make a few short films. There is
no reason why you can't try both. You'll find that video
is cheaper than film so if that's what you're asking then
that makes a difference. But you didn't mention anything
about cost, so it's difficult to help there.
You can search the forums here for a lot of info on super 8
cameras and digital video cameras. Now that you've had
the time to do that, did you find any info that helped?
