Nikon Kit lens on GH2?

Hey guys
I have a GH2 with 14-42mm kit lens and 20mm pancake.
My friend owns a Nikon D3000 with 18-55mm kit lens. I was wondering if there is any use I can get out of that lens on GH2 esp with its 2x crop and ETC mode.. What kinda converter would I need?

Thanks

This lens have an aperture ring? If not, you are screwed. Because there is no electrical connection between the GH2 and any adapter for Nikon lens, so you can't adjust the aperture. You would have to adjust the aperture with the lens mounted on the Nikon, turn off, and so mount on GH2 with this aperture. So bad.

There are some adapters with it's own internal aperture ring, simulating the lens iris. You get the lens into max aperture, and the adapter close it as you want.

That was great. So I have a kits lens and 20mm 1.7
If you had to recommend me 1 lens to get..which would it be from all these vintage lenses?
I don't have a lot of money right now so anything under 100$ would do. :)

Well, you already have a wide and sharp lens. So I would recommend to get a fast and "organic" one.

I'm using this. Almost all the images in the showreel that I posted on the other topic is from this lens.

Both look amazingly cinematic.. Would I need an adapter with it as well?
One thing that I dont understand is that with GH2's crop factor of 2x, wouldnt 50mm be effectively around 100mm? Or that doesn't matter?
I found some russian vintage lens site.. Have you ever tried them?

Yes, for any lens different from m4/3 mount, you will need an adapter. But this kind of adapter is cheap. It's just a piece of metal.

And yes, it will be near 100mm in GH2. But you have a wide lens to use when you need angle. So this vintage will cover you when you need light/organic/close/beauty detail shots.

If you want a little more wide AND a large aperture, I strongly recommend the Sigma 30mm 1.4 for Olympus 4/3, which can be adapted to GH2 keeping the aperture control. I really like this lens look.

I heard about russian lens, but never tried.

Oh, another way to get wide angle in GH2 is using anamorphic lens. But is a little more complicated and expensive.

hmm you make sense brother.. cheers for all the great info.. One last thing
How would you compare Minolta 50mm to Canon FD 1.4?
Cause if I get a Canon lens, wouldn't the adapter be more useful as in Canon mounts are most common, right?

Well, honestly, the adapter cannot be a crucial factor in your decision. It's just about 10 or 15 bucks. You have to focus on the lens.

50mm 1.4 from Minolta, Pentax and Canon FD are quite similar. There are small differences inside the range of inexplicable characteristics. The soul of the lenses, the feeling, the animic look of each one. You have to watch all the videos you can, until you feel so tired you can't stand anymore in front of computer. So you start to see this soul, and start to recognize it in every footage with this lens. It's similar to what musicians says about "train the ear". One of this lenses will match what you are looking for, and you will hear a 'click' telling you that it's your way! hehe

I hear you brother. I sorta feel that way about Canon FD that's why I asked. It has a really nice color rendition and it's not too contrasty.
Ofcourse adapters are secondary. I just meant it as a "bonus advantage" as I know few people with Canon lenses that I might be able to borrow then.
