Art often imitates life. There have been several movies made based on actual criminal events. "The Great Train Robbery" comes to mind as does some of the movies about the James Gang and other American western outlaws.
I find it ironic that the robbers used "sub-machineguns" in a county that has strict gun laws.
My guess is that is was an inside job or at least planned using inside information.
