They seem pretty cool, though a bit overpriced as usual. I am slightly disappointed at the lack of a standard SSD, and why exactly is the 15" only 2.0 ghz? The old version cam standard at 2.4..

The new Thunderbolt port and Sandy Bridge chip are good stuff though. No matte screen option either...I guess my expectations were a bit too high.

Glad I purchased an imac at the beginning of this month and not a macbook. I would have kicked myself if I purchased a macbook and saw that new ones were released...

The GeekBench scores are out, and the low-end 13" scores higher than the previous top-of-the-range 17". Very impressive.

The old ones were dual-core CPUs. These are quad-cores. Clock speed isn't the only specs that determine it's speed. I really appreciate having 4 cores when running After Effects. Runs silky smooth (well, with 16GBs of RAM too).

Man, I love my iMac, but having an i7 MBP sure is tempting. Must. Resist.

Apple plans on releasing the Final Cut Pro (FCP 8?)in Spring 2011 and it is supposed to be 64 bit. These will go good with it.

Do you think the 13inch would be ok for storing all my 5d video and raw stills? Would it run fcp and ae ? I have a Mac pro quad core to edit with at home but need something small when on the road. I was also thinking of getting a g safe external hard drive.

The iMacs will be updated within the next few months.

I'm okay with the imacs being updated 6 months from now. Don't they usually get an update once a year around the time the new iphones and everything come out?

I bought an acer aspire one netbook 2 years ago that really is the ideal kind of personal computer for prolonged use.

It uses a minimal amount of electricity / only has a small fan.

(just don't get olive oil in the keyboard like I did)

If you're throwing 450$ at anything this summer, it would be my pick.

Great for web browsing and screen writing I'm sure, but you won't find many (sane) people trying to edit video on a netbook…
