Monologue or Sides

I am casting for my first film an can't decide which is better for my audition, monologue or sides. I've worked in theater and film so I see the benefit of both. Please help. I want to get the most out of everyone that auditions.

Sides, if possible. You want to see how the actor does as a given character, not in the abstract.

You can also ask them to read a different character than what they came in for, if you see something interesting/unexpected.

Plus, it gives the actor some small feel for the piece....if it's something that isn't going to appeal to them, better to find out sooner than later.
