Mockbusters!!!

So, I've just seen "Battle of Los Angeles" available in my local supermarket for £7.99! Of course it's not "Battle: Los Angeles", and I don't think many people will fall for it, but the "of" on the cover of the Mockbuster is so small, it almost looks as if the title actually is "Battle: Los Angeles"!

Of course, this is just the latest in the long line of Mockbusters from Asylum Films, following on from such classics as "Snakes on a Train", "Tranmorphers", "The Day the Earth Stopped" and "Paranormal Entity". They also have "Almighty Thor" due out this summer, roughly around the same time as the Marvle Movie "Thor".

Anybody watched any of these films? Anybody willing to admit that they've enjoyed them? I haven't seen "Battle of Los Angeles" so I couldn't possibly comment on whether it's the worst film ever made, but I think that could be a safe bet. The ones that I have seen (out of curiosity and because they were on TV (i'd never even consider paying for one of their movies)) have been terrible. Terrible acting, terrible direction and, worst of all, awful, awful CGI. Personally, these are some of the wost movies I've ever seen, regardless of their orgins as rip-offs.

Anybody else think that these movies are just shameful, or do people actually appreciate their lack of ethics, to just make a cheap movie and put it out in an attempt to make money from the name of other movies?

Bit of rant, sorry. They annoy me. Right. Off to work on my script for "Triassic Park".

Ethics, schmethics. If anyone is dumb enough to fall for this misleading advertising, then they shouldn't be allowed to carry their own money.

I saw a few minutes of "Transmorphers 2". A few minutes was all I could handle.

Battle of LA was on TV the other day... it was decent at parts, then had moments of absolute crap... never got beyond decent for me though. It does bolster me though thinking I can absolutely succeed in this world by making mediocre sci fi fare with modest SFX.

Oh god, I wish I could remember some of the choice titles we used to carry at Blockbuster in Bogantown southest Queensland. My mind is completely blank though. Hopefully I'll think of a couple -_-

My favorite moment from LA was when the government ninja soldier chick was taking the regular soldiers to see an alien - they were asked if they had reeces pieces as the alien seemed to really liked them.
