I throw myself at the mercy of "the tech guys"......I've gone tapeless! I got a Canon Vixia HFG10.
However, I have two issues:
1) What's the best way to get video off the camera and into Final Cut 7? Naturally, as hi-res as possible.
I've experimented a bit using the Doremisoft converter and got stuff in, but it seems rather laggy. I also have to render each clip when I drop it on the timeline.
2) The next and biggest issue is that I'm doing a project for someone and I've shot some stuff for them on this camera, but I also have to bring some stuff in that was shot on MiniDV, on a Canon HV40. So, naturally, I need to be able to edit both sources into the same video. I'm a bit lost on what settings need to be in place for all of this to work out.
Again, I've experimented and the biggest problem is the lag. It's almost impossible to scrub through stuff, and there is a bit of a half second delay when playing a clip from the HFG10.
