Microphone help please

Wsup ppl. I recent purchased a rebel t4i and I'm trying to decide what would be a good microphone at an affordable price. I intend on using it for documentaries and short films/videos. Thanks in advance.

Do you have a budget? My first recommendation would be the Schoeps CMIT5U, but I get the feeling that $2,100 for just the mic is a little out of your price range.

What other audio gear do you have?

Do you have any audio experience?

Where will you be shooting, primarily?

As always I recommend that you hire a sound professional or hook up with a talented up-and-comer. Barring that, instead of buying I recommend that you rent.

Well $2000+ is definitely out of my range. I don't have any sound equipment or audio experience. I'm just looking for something personal for someone in the beginning stages of filmmaking. I'll probably be doing most of the shooting indoors but some outdoors also. I've considered renting but I prefer something I can own and use for a while.
