We are currently looking for a screenwriter who is interested in closely collaborating with a director. This london based photographer turned director (though represented by a new york agency) is working on several shorts, documentaries, music videos, fashion films and commercial films. 80% of his work is based around 'coming of age', boy culture, adolescents and youth cultures. It is very important that the screenwriter has a connection with these subjects and can show previous work based on this.
It will be an unconventional collaboration as sometimes his editorial films have a turnaround of less then 2 weeks and his teams are very small and therefore very flexible.
He tends to always work on a 'personal project' on the side though. A previous project he just finished was invited to premiere by a well know international film festival. This film was based around 2 kids (street cast), documentary style, it had a tiny but clever script that gave the kids some direction and scenes. It was shot in 3 days with 2 to 3 crew members and was 8 minutes long. This is very typical of how he the director likes to work.
Important to know is that most of these editorial are unpaid for everyone (also for the director) though it is a proven great opportunity for your work to be seen by many people and to move towards commercial shorts with the director.
If you are interested please send us a short story based around 2 to 3 east london boys, aged 13 to 17. It could be a formatted script though a short story, a single scene or even an idea will be just great too. We would appreciate to see your references like photo's, films, directors, scenes, books etc (we like to see what your are inspired by).
We are looking for someone unconventional, clever and flexible with strong ideas and a connection to youths.
It would be great if you too are based in london, though Im sure we can make it work either way..
