lighting LIghting an Audition Space

I'm sure all of you have been in an audition space. It has floresants, curtains covering the huge mirror and bare walls on the other sides.

If you check out this video you'll see what a cheesy camcorder records.

Here's my idea for a teaser and if anyone can tell me how to light it, I'd greatly appreciate it.

A casting agent, director and two Producers sit behind a table with an actress standing before them undressing for the body check.

It's simple, direct, and it will be shot from both their perspectives.

To give it depth between her and them, and them and the blurred background. How large would the room have to be? How would you get the depth and distance between her and them. How could it be beautifully lit?

Thank you.

This place has many rooms
40 x 16
35 x 26
21 x 14

Well, that's going to depend on the focal length and aperture of the lens. And the sensor size of the camera you use.

Remember, you can always cheat a bit by moving your actors around.

And are those dimensions in feet or meters?

Using the 5D, you could easily get away with using the smallest room and still have incredibly shallow depth of field. With the other cameras, you'll need a big a room as you can get to throw the background out of focus, and even then it will be shallow only in the more telephoto shots - so shooting a master with a blurred background will be tricky.

He is using the still camera though he called it a DSLR. I have to tell him to create a name for each camera and only use that. Using different names confuses the shit out of me. I know nothing about cameras.
