Last Call - Golden Gecko Short Film Submissions

Get the Greenlight from GEICO

Announcing the 2005 Golden Gecko Competition
A web-based film contest to launch a new cinematic star

The set-up: Can you do for geckos what Spielberg did for extra terrestrials? GEICO is looking for talent to bring its renowned icon—the Gecko—to the big screen. And they need ideas for a spectacular star vehicle. Pitch your concept by developing a 15-second film trailer in one of the following categories:
• Action
• Animation
• Comedy
• Drama
• Other

Submit your trailer at www.goldengecko.com, where you’ll compete against other aspiring auteurs. Entries will be voted on and rated by the general public, and GEICO will pick the final winners.

The steps:
1. September 15: Your first chance to submit a trailer at www.goldengecko.com. (NO ENTRY FEE)
2. September 15 - October 24: View and rate your competition.
3. October 24: SUBMISSIONS END.
4. October 25 - November 8: Vote to choose the top 15.
5. November 9: Find out who made the cut.
6. November 15: And the Golden Gecko goes to . . .

The swag:
Winners will receive a glittering array of prizes, selected especially for the next generation of movers and shakers in independent film, including coveted electronic gadgets and star-worthy vacation getaways to the Renaissance Ilikai Hotel in Waikiki, the Renaissance Las Vegas Hotel, the South Seas Island Resort on Florida’s Captiva Island, the Hilton Cocoa Beach Oceanfront and the Hilton Clearwater Beach Resort. Each first-place winner will also be commemorated with a Golden Gecko statue. Those other award shows have nothing on this guy. Visit www.goldengecko.com for a complete list of prizes.

The star:
With good looks, sharp wit, and charisma to spare, the Gecko is primed to become the next sensation in American cinema. He’s serious about his craft, ascribing to the Stanislavski Method. He’s looking for a real “actor’s director” who can help him stretch his emotive muscles while revealing his innate star quality. Are you up to the challenge?
