Kinofilm Festival - Last call for Submissions

Kinofilm, Manchester International Short Film Festival will soon be celebrating it’s 10th Anniversary and we want you to join us in making it the best Kinofilm Festival yet! The festival will take place 27th Feb–6th March 2006 and the deadline for submission is now 31st July.

After a decade of co-ordinating Film Festivals, Touring Programmes, Screenings and Educational events, Kinofilm remains at the forefront in seeking out the best, brightest and most startling short films both nationally and internationally. Entries are eligible from all sectors of the film making community for short films on any theme, subject or category, made on any format. Films should be no longer than 20 minutes and must have been made within the last 18 months.

Our main strands this year will include:

Kino Tales: Kino will continue this provocative new strand with tales of the Romantic, the Fantastic and Bizarre. Including Kino Extreme, a boundary stretching, taboo busting tour of the darker reaches of contemporary cinema.

BlueFiRe!: Our cultural diversity strand focussing on British and International Black, Asian and Chinese filmmakers. The event will include seminars, workshops, and networking events.

Outside In: Kinofilm began as an underground film festival and remains passionately committed to the promotion of alternative, counter cultural and outsider cinema. Including Going Underground and Inspired by the Medium showcasing innovative and challenging new work inspired by digital filmmaking technology.

International Perspectives: Including our ever popular Kinolatino, and the acclaimed Midnight Sun, presenting innovative and inspiring new talent from Scandinavia.

North by Northwest: Our ever popular regional strand now expanded to include five separate programmes, aimed at encouraging the regions burgeoning filmmakers.

4 Countries 1 Cinema: A celebration of the finest UK and Irish Shorts.

Euro Cine: We will bring a new perspective to our European selection with an Eastern European Focus presenting exciting new work emerging from the region.

The festival will celebrate its tenth competitive year to acknowledge outstanding achievements in short film. The prestigious Kinofilm Awards are presented in ten categories: Best British and International shorts, Best Student short, Best Animation, Best Digital short, Best Screenplay, Best Short from the North, Best titling sequence, Best soundtrack and Best Edit.
