Keep your mind open

Earlier today I was on a location scouting for my next project "Battle of the Pacific".

In the story I had an opening scene on a quite mountain-like lake, so my goal was to to find a remote parks with scenic water few.
On my way out of the city, I drove by a tiny park with a small fishing dock in downtown Seattle and saw this...

BOOM!

An awesome FREE production value!!

I made a few small changes in a screenplay, so I can utilize this old piece of marine machinery and immediately sent out an email to Seattle Film Office to obtain a permit to shoot in this city park. Even through I can't use the crane - I still can make it to be a part of my story :-D

So my advice is to keep your mind open during your location scounts, because you never know what you may find!

And, as always, don't forget to "Like" our movie on "Battle of the Pacific" Fan Page! :-D

I agree. Keep your mind open as long as it fits the theme and subject matter of the movie and/or scene but dont utilize "better" locations simply to increase production value, only to have it look out of place.
