Is there really a significant difference between the Canon Rebel T2i and T3I???

Newbie here looking to make short films and FINALLY buy a camera.

I have very little idea about cameras, but I was wondering if the price hike was worth stretching to buy the t3i rather than t2i? Will it make a significant difference?

Thanks.

I think the best way to decide would be to learn about cameras and what their different functions do. Then make your own decision according to your filming needs.

For a quick and short answer to your question (and this is just my own opinion): No. The t2i gives you more bang for your buck.

The articulating screen is a common argument for the t3i over the t2i where people say that it can save you the cost of a monitor which is more than the price difference. I think that is a very thin argument because you would need a monitor for both if you're involved in any serious film making and if not, you can make do without an articulating screen.

I'd echo that it depends on long range plans. If you are even semi serious about making films you're going to need to buy a monitor before very long, which negates that advantage of the swivel screen. If you'e going to just makes some shorts with friends as a hobby and not invest much in additional gear, than the swivel screen is pretty handy.
