It seems that DVD will be phased out soon so should I not even bother to get Encore, and wait perhaps a year? Are film festivals showing movies in DVD quality 480p, or have they moved to more blue ray quality 1080p for their showings, or for what people in the business expect?
editing Is Encore DVD Pro still a good choice with blu ray on the rise?

Oh okay. You mean that my laptop, can go from burning a DVD disk, to making a blu ray disk, just from the program, and not the laptop itself? Or do I need a new special computer that too?
You need a blu-ray burner to burn blu-rays.
DVD's will be around for years still. I'm a fan of blu-ray, but in reality of you're worrie about festivals DVD's fine now and anything future will most likely be digital files uploaded.

Sure. just deciding on what package is best to buy. I didn't buy one yet cause I have not decided on which new computer to get. I think I'll go with a PC, with a blue ray burner, possibly, and get the ACS 5.5
