In need of a new shockmount

Finally my current mic holder has took its final dying breath today. I'm in need of a new one capable of holding a decent sized mic, ie. rode ntg3/ mkh416, with softie. My current mic is about the same size and weight and plan on getting one of those once a few bills are paid. I would like to be able to mount it on camera for eng style and on a boom. I know i want everything. I was looking at the rycote invision, but most are for indoor use and I hate to be in the field with a broken lyre and having to special order another, nearly unbreakable isn't that reassuring in the middle of nowhere. Any suggestions are appreciated

Depending upon the shock-mount you already own you could just replace the suspension bands.

And in which Rycote INV are you interested? The $300 or $60 version? There is a HUGE difference.

Don't worry about camera/ENG or boom - the threading should fit both the boom and shoe-mount.

Pearstone has a nice little niche making (actually branding) good for-the-price stuff. In other words, it may not be the best, but you get every pennies worth of value.

If you can afford Rycote, get Rycote, but it is usually very "specific" product. You said your mic was approximately the same size as an NTG-3 or 416. If you had mentioned a specific model I may have suggested a specific Rycote. K-Tek is very generic, so since you gave a "generic" mic I made a "generic" suggestion.
