Images to Video and Vice Versa

Surprisingly it seems very difficult to turn a folder full of images into a video. By this I mean start with say 250 images and turn them into a 10 sec clip at 25 frames per sec.

So, does anybody know of any (preferably freeware) programs that can do this? The program ImageToVideo from http://en.cze.cz/ does not work for me ( a shame)

If anybody wants to do the reverse (ie video clip to a whole lot of separate images) this does it very well:

Free Video to JPG Converter 1.5.1.53

Once you have a folder with hundreds of images in it you can examine every image very easily and do tricks (eg copy them in reverse order so that you can make things go back to where they started)

This is part of a typical flow in After Effects and Premiere ??

Lots of editors (including Adobe premiere) will convert images to a video BUT (unless I am mistaken) they have a minimum time of about one second per frame. So 25 frames turn into a 25 sec clip whereas I want 25 frames to turn into a one second clip ...

Yes, you are mistaken. One photo can be held as little as one frame of video. So 25 photos could equal 1 second of video.

Yes, you are right! And I am delighted to be wrong ... here is how you do it:

"Add numbered still‑image files as a single clip

1. Make sure that each still‑image filename has the correct filename extension, and that all filenames in the sequence contain an equal number of digits before the extension—for example, file000.bmp, file001.bmp, and so forth.
2. Do one of the following:
*

In the Tasks panel, click Organize, and click Get Media; then click PC Files And Folders.
*

Choose File > Get Media From > PC Files And Folders.
3. Locate and select the first numbered still image in the sequence. From the Files Of Type menu, select Numbered Stills, and click Open.

Adobe Premiere Elements interprets all of the numbered files as a single sequence.

What you could do in adobe premier is stack the pictures (minimum time per image) and make the video, then reintroduce the video as a seperate movie file and speed it up.

I know its possible to do with adobe software as a friend and I did this clip using my Nikon D80.

But he handled the post for this as I had to work the next day.
