I Want To Create An Effect

What the fuck's my problem? I hate effects, now I want to use one. Just one, and after seeing Scoopicman's photo, it gave me the thought.

Act Three of the movie I'm going to be making takes place in a bedroom. To get around having to actually be in a bedroom, and to be able to work in any large industrial space without having to build anything. I've created 3 curtains with paint splashed in modern art form acting as a 3 way back-stop.

But, if I wanted to bring the camera back and catch a full view of the door outside the curtain on one side and the window that's on the other. How could I do that? If you know, could you show me an example?

I own the book The Invisible Art about matte painting. I still don't get it.

The meat of Act 3 is the lead tied to a bed being tortured (it's a comedy), and I want it to look FANTASTIC. So, I need a space big enough to get some nice wide shots with depth. That's impossible in my house, where it's suppose to take place. My bedroom is about 10 x 10 (same size as I've used before). So, I'm going to be looking into getting a nice large empty space to shoot it. It should only take a day or two.

But, if there were a way to shoot one long wide shot with blackness on either side of the curtains, then drop in photos of each wall on either side, that would be perfect. But, how do you get a picture of a wall when the room is only 10 x 10. Am I over thinking this? I think it's the I don't understand mattes syndrome.

I get it.. but me, Id change the story a bit to fit...

Move the bed into the living room?

How about a cheap hotel room?

Find a Small bed.. like a fold away single.. that might look cool too..

Something like that going down in a cheap hotel will look "right"

I don't understand why you'd wanna get around being in a bedroom for a scene in a bedroom. Sure you have a bedroom. Sure your talent has a bedroom. And if you have a crew, sure your crüe has a bedroom?( dunnit sound hard writing crew 'crüe'?)
I mean...Save the 50bucks of the hotel and get a shit load of bigmacs
