How to transfer iPod files to iPod/Computer/iTunes (Windows/Mac)

Do you want to transfer files from your ipod to your itunes in another PC?

If that is the case you need a tool that allows to browse your files in the ipod. There are some tools around that allow you to do that.

The problem is that ipod files change name, so it's hard to find the right name of movies and/or songs.

Apple controls a lot what you put in your ipod and what you can transfer, so it's not a straight forward flow.

Depends on where the file comes from.. if its a file you bought from iTunes then you have to authorize both computers and the iPod with the same iTunes account, you can then use the "transfer purchases" to use your iPod as a go between and copy content from one PC to another..

There are some settings in the Advanced preferences that deal with how iTunes manages your files.. specifically "Keep iTunes Media Folder Organized" that is probably causing the file name change confusion.

You can always use "Get Info" of an item in your library to see where it is on disk.

If its "files" you made or ripped your self, then you can use the iPod just like a USB stick.. you might need to to turn on "enable disk use"
