how to shoot documentary reconstruction scenes

I want to make a documentary and this involves reconstructing scenes of events that took place. How can I do that?
I am planning to use black and white, but what about light? Also i want to give these scenes a "slow motion" feeling.
Ideas are really appreciated

Lighting?

PVC light stands and clamp lights from a hardware store.

Black and white?

See if there is an option for black and white on your camera, or pull the footage into your editor, and pull down the saturation and/or throw on a black and white filter.

Heavy color grading (send the footage over to me if you need any help, and perhaps changing the frame rate or taking out frames every few seconds to give it a choppy look. Play around with it
