editing how to burn a blu ray disc from fcp7

I just bought a samsung blu ray writer (slim external) and plan to start burn blu ray from FCP 7 myself. (Footage is from canon 5D mark II) It doesn't look like my mac pro (old one mac os x 10.5.8) recognizing it.

How do you do it?

You need different software. DVD studio (the DVD authoring software bundled in Final Cut Studio) won't author a blu-ray.

Adobe Encore is your best bet. If you can't pay, there's even a fully functioning 30 day trial.

Export your footage from FCP, create and burn the disc through Encore.

Toast is cheaper indeed :) But free trial of encore is nice.

So do you guys export FCP file into compressor to get two compressed files (audio and video) before sending to encore or toast?
