A lot of times when I try to import a file into Premiere Pro, the program will freeze. The escape or anything I've tried will not work, so I am forced to shut down the program, but I can't imagine this is good for my projects. Any other alternative, since it's been happening quite often lately? Thanks.

Sony Vegas Pro is probably the best PC alternative for Premiere Pro.
What kind of files are you importing? If this is the same computer you use for Internet and gaming, or anything other than Video Editing, you may have DLL's or other software conflicting with Premiere. Adobe's user forums would be a far better alternative for getting an accurate answer as to what is wrong.
