cinematography How is this establishing shot?

I wanted to get closer but this is unfortunately as close as I could get to the city from where I was. It is quite far away so when you look at it, do you think that's where the story takes place or do you see the bridge first, and think the city is too far away?

Well I was going for a documentary thriller style like Paul Greengrass. In his establishing shots, he makes the camera look like it's been told by a hand held camera operator, getting footage of the movie. That's what I was going for.

I do have another shot I could try matching it up with as a combo of establishing shots, but the other shot is sunny where as this one is cloudy looking.

But I don't see why I needed a tripod, since hand held style is very much accepted and thought it would just be easier on bike, to go with that style.

Well it is accepted provided that you had less shakiness and framed it properly. Hell, even placing the camera against your chest would've worked.

It's everything but cheap.

Cheapest decent is ~$700 without camera. Exciting stuff coming from myself soon
