I think that it's called tilt-shifting.
Is a technique where you change the focal plane by using an adapter or freelensing.

Really cool video, looks like someone pulling focus to the beat, using a tiltshift lens as mentioned.

Agreed! We just recently used a tiltshift lens on a Canon. They are cool stuff!
