How does one extract audio and cut scenes from a DVD?

Say I put 28 days later dvd on my computer. I see people on youtube all the time edit the clips around and take music out and put them in their own films. How can this be done? I use adobe premiere.

If it's a copyrighted disc, you'll first need to locate a ripper application. I don't have one, but I hear there are freebies all over the place. Try a Google search for "DVD ripper". Once ripped to a format that Adobe can interpret, just open it up and cut it up. Bear in mind that doing this violates the copyright, though.

greatly appreciated! I am aware of the copyright thank you. Just need to show a little project for film analysis class(high school). I wont be distributing it or making money off of it.
