how do yall write your scripts

It depends what you feel most. When I'm working from someone else's idea, I have to use their thought process to ensure that I hit the notes they want me to hit. From that I've learned that everyone goes about it differently.

Some people go for the adrenaline. Some people go for the character tension. Some people go for certain pictures that captivate their interest.

If you're asking you're probably wanting to write your first script. I'd say start with what is most compelling about the idea - a picture, a character, a scenario - and just start playing with it. Write discontinuously if you have to - a scene here, a scene there.

In mentoring a couple of guys through their first scripts it's apparent to me you'll put yourself at a disadvantage trying to mimic someone else's process. You have to go straight for what motivates you and allow that motivation to carry you through.
