How did they do this?

This is EXACTLY the type of film I would like to make. I would like to do it for a different topic, but this style is exactly what I'd like to do. (see youtube video below)

Does anyone know what products they used for text and/or backgrounds on this? I have access to the entire Adobe suite or am willing to purchase whatever you think they used.

This is a mix of alot of 3D and seperately moving 2D layers, and yes, you can do this in Max and After Effetcts, Maya and Nuke, Softimage and Flame, etc... There's a ton of software out there that can do this: so leg me break down the different techniques used here:

0.00-0.05 rendered 3D
0.05-0.08 screengrab of obscure 3D physics program
0.08-0.14 person behind greenscreen, moving 2d background
0.14-0.28 2D data projected on transperant 3d planes, added camera moves, can be done eother in a 2d or 3d package
1.27 2 seperately moving 2d layers to create 3d illusion.

Those things are the basis for the entire film, sometimes they use animated 2d backgrounds, sometimes alittle movement, etc.

The hardest part about making a movie like this isnt shooting it, as the actual footage is just the interviews, the hardest part will be learning those programs, and using them right.

Thank you for your replies. Yes, it's one thing to have full access to the Adobe platform, it's a whole other ball of wax to use them right. I appreciate your input as it helps me focus my time and effort on the appropriate software.
