Hooking up a Rode NTG2 to my Panasonic GH2

I am getting a Rode NTG2, but cannot afford a field recorder yet. My plan was to use it with my camera input for the time being. The problem I have run into is that the GH2 specs say it has a 2.5mm input and the Rode NTG@ has XLR output. I cannot find a converter for this. I have found XLR to 3.5 and 3.5 to 2.5 but will that two step conversion make the quality worse?

You'll get really good sound with that set up, I use the same thing, you just have to double check the connections, you have three connection points and two of the three aren't robust, sonically though you're golden.

You'll need an impedance matching transformer to convert the low impedance NTG-2 to the high impedance needs of the camera.

Unless you are handy with a soldering iron you'll have no choice but to get an additional 3.5mm to 2.5mm adapter.

Considering the audio quality of the camera I doubt that you'll get any noticeable audio degradation.
