Hello, my name is Misael Sine, and I am a film director currently working on my first feature film.

I am a Finnish-Indonesian film director, born in Jakomäki, Finland, raised in Bandung, Indonesia, and now based in Helsinki.

Growing up between two cultures, I often felt caught between worlds—never fully accepted as Finnish or Indonesian. Over time, this duality became my strength, shaping my unique perspective and deep appreciation for diversity. Today, I embrace my identity as belonging to both countries, regardless of appearances.

My work doesn’t conform to a single style or genre, but I gravitate toward authenticity, favoring natural light and real locations over studio setups. On set, I value respect and equality, rejecting rigid hierarchies in favor of collaboration.

Filmmaking isn’t just a career for me—it’s my calling. Inspired by my parents, Christopher Nolan, Ruben Östlund, anime, Haruki Murakami, and the Bible, I believe in the transformative power of art, which has profoundly shaped my own life. While my journey began in advertising, my ultimate dream is to create meaningful, cinematic feature films. I know where I’m headed—I want to be a full-time movie director, and I have a gut feeling that I will win an Oscar one day.

In my free time, I love immersing myself in nature, swimming in cold waters, and watching both great and bad films. Most of all, I cherish moments with my friends and loved ones.

I do what I do because I was born to tell stories.
