Has CGI become a "bad word"?

To original question:

CGI shouldn't be used to replace bad acting or poor writing and shouldn't be a "gimmick" that is promoted to get people to watch your movie. I think PotC is a good example of this.

I loved the first one.

Then the sequels just looked like they were trying to entertain 12 year-olds.

And I agree completely. Felt exactly the same way about the Indiana Jones movies.
