Has anyone used an MXL FR series mic?

I'm looking at the MXL FR-300 and FR-304 and was wondering if anyone had any experience with them. Are they good mics? Are they crap? Do they make good back scratchers?

Any and all opinions are appreciated...

Okay, MXL is made by Marshall; you know, guitar amps, etc.

I've never used their mics, they're relatively new on the market. The few guys I know who've tried them said they were a bit colored, which is great for music recording but not for production sound. They one thing they did like is they were fairly robust (well built) for the price.

Actually different Marshall as the amps, but the same Marshall as production monitors. I contacted them a while back for info on a short version of a shotgun mic that got scraped. They are very average mics not much better than an azden. That's at least with the samples I've heard.
