Good camera for cheap

Hey guys, I'm a beginner filmmaker and I'm looking for a decent camcorder for a relatively cheap price (something around $300) Also, it would be nice if I could connect an external mic to it.
Any thoughts?

Maybe a used HVX 20 or HVX 30, though most people have them overpriced for their value.

I recommend a JVC Everio HD3 I used to use it and now I'm selling it on ebay, and it has superb quality for the price.

Try craigslist. You can get some pretty amazing cameras for basically nothing there.
