Going to school!

Hey everyone. So I decided that I am going to the New York Film Academy. I am going to take the 8 week workshop at Universal Studios. I cannot wait!

I have no experience with NYFA, but most of the complaints I've heard have been to do with the disorganisation of their admin staff, but funnily enough almost any University across the globe has similar issues.

I was in at FotoKem in early July and they were telecineing NYFA 16mm stuff and it seemed like pretty stock-standard class exercises. I'd probably say the USC summer course is better, but I'm pretty sure it's a lot more expensive.

I personally don't think you'd regret any filmmaking intensive - at the very least it'll be a lot of fun, especially at Universal :)

Yea but then I would be spending around 10k for just 8 weeks! That does include apartment stay but still where is the notable alumni? I dont want to spend that money and get in debt with a school that doesnt have a good track record. I was looking into Berkeley Digital Film Institute.

I'm planning go there next year. I'll probably study for a year of filmmaking conservatory but I'm still not that sure. It's a big step for me so i'm still weighing my options

i'll give you my 2 cents.
For so long i planned on going there. I was a lower class civillian. Joined the military to get my GI bill to go to that school. The military did not turn out so well, and i attemted to find other ways on getting scholarships. Its hard. Especially for a 2-3 year program such as conservatory film.
I then read reviews as well, decided and concluded that all they want is money, since they'll accept just about anybody. The experience is good i suppose, but looking at all the student films, i wasn't impressed. Then i read BOA (bachelor of Arts) is one of the worst things you can get a bachelors in, since it's expensive, and not many jobs with good pay.
So i decided to learn my byself buying books, practicing ect. So far i'm on a good road.
And that's where i'm at.

Well I dont know. Probably two years cause in most schools thats what it is. I wanted to do a workshop get some experience and make as many connections and contacts as I could.

I'm planning to study for a year in NYFA-NYC campus. I'm pretty sure with it but I can't help overthinking. I'm pretty sure you're feeling the same anxiety that I am. I've done a lot of research and I think its worth the risk
