You need to add the walls and ceiling ripping and burning as the beam hits them. Add particles of dust etc. Nice work.

The only part I liked was the very ending... the other stuff seemed like way too much of a build-up, for an otherwise funny joke.

I'll guarantee you it wouldn't have been nearly as funny without the build up. You've got to earn the punch line!
